Description of Opportunities

Are you looking for ways to connect with others in the church and in our community? Our church family is filled with talented people. There are many ways you can share your skills with FCCB and our community. If you would like to help, please take a look at some of the different areas that can benefit from your time and unique talents.

Office/Administration

The Church Office is always a busy place. Occasionally, help is needed to assist the Office Manager and/or serve as backup to cover vacation days. Administrative tasks include using office-related computers and software, making copies or printouts, preparing mail, answering and making phone calls, filing, and greeting visitors. Other office-related areas include hand-written correspondence and assisting with a variety of special or seasonal projects.

Worship

The Worship Committee ensures that tasks for Sunday worship, special services and events are completed. Areas include the Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall and outside on the East Lawn. Tasks include many of the “behind-the-scenes” set up and breakdown of church holiday and event materials.

Fellowship

Church hospitality is an important aspect of our overall image. Our hosts and greeters are the welcoming face that members, family and guests see when they come for worship and events. Tasks include greeting, ushering or assisting guests on Sunday mornings and for special events.

Student Ministry

Our young members are the future of our church. If you have a passion for working with children and teens in Christian Education in the nursery, preschool and youth group, let us know! Our youth program is always in need of mentors to help shape young minds and hearts. Teens meet weekly on Wednesday nights, but we need afternoon mentors to hang out with them after school until the evening youth group activities begin. Volunteers are also needed on Sunday mornings during worship services, on Wednesday evenings and for events as needed.

Missions & Outreach

One of the foundations of our church is our commitment to Mission projects. We are partners with many community groups and sponsor a variety of outreach programs. We take the Gospel message from within the walls of our church, out into the community. Volunteers willing to help us with seasonal or special events not only in our church, but also at other locations are always needed. Extra hands have helped us collect and sort food and personal items, organize and package necessities, serve meals, distribute food and care items, and to help provide services throughout the city. If your talents can help support our mission to serve the Lord by assisting neighbors in our own back yard and throughout the world, then we need you. Volunteers are vital to helping us to not only provide meals, blankets, clothing and shelter, but also for special emergency and disaster relief efforts.

Choir

Sing praises to the Lord! You don’t have to be able to read music or sing professionally to join the choir…and you don’t have to audition. Let us know if you can play an instrument or would like to participate in the handbell choir too. There are many ways to participate in the choir as we celebrate each week through song!

Media

Sunday morning worship services are a weekly multi-media event. Our live services reach not only an in-house audience, but also an online group of worshippers through our website and on Facebook. Media team volunteers help with a range of digital technology tasks associated with projected media slides, still camera and videography, sound, lighting and online streaming.

Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Ministry is essential in praying for both the spoken and unspoken needs of the church and its members. Our devoted prayer warriors are involved with special projects like the Sweet Sleep ministry, prayer vigils and community prayer events.

Building & Grounds

FCCB is a large campus, with a variety of ongoing maintenance and groundskeeping needs. At times there are special projects that can benefit from a group of volunteers willing to help with gardening, landscaping, painting, cleaning and repair work.

Special Events

Christian holidays and special events—such as weddings and funerals—can require extra efforts on the part of our dedicated staff. Volunteers are especially helpful when covering a multitude of tasks that need to be done. These projects facilitate the need for volunteers who can step in and help carry out a variety of tasks as needed.
