POSITION DESCRIPTION: DIRECTOR OF WORSHIP AND MUSIC
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Worship and Music, in concert with the pastoral leadership, is responsible to develop and maintain a vibrant, healthy worship life at First Christian Church of the Beaches (FCCB). This employee will have the responsibility to participate in the vision and design for worship, including order of service and music selection. This employee shall also supervise the music and worship staff and volunteers who participate in worship functions. Other duties pertaining to the ministry may be assigned as necessary.
ACCOUNTABILITY
This position reports to the Lead Pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Director of Worship and Music will:
· Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and a desire to serve, and demonstrate an attitude of genuine caring for God’s people.
· Perform all duties in accord with the vision and mission of FCCB in collaboration with the pastors and leadership team.
· Possess and demonstrate an understanding of our beliefs at FCCB
· Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to lead and mentor others
· Possess experience and demonstrate comfort in both traditional and contemporary worship styles.
· Possess training, skill, and experience in both the choral and instrumental aspects of worship.
· Have comfort and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), media editing/player programs, Planning Center Services, ProPresenter, and other position related software; and other ministry related tools.
- Passionate, relevant and engaging communication skills (1:1, team, groups).
- Strong organizational skills for growing, mobilizing, and maintaining a strong and effective team and program. Able to manage large or complex systems for large church environments.
· Recruiting, training, leading and caring for volunteers.

- Has a passion to increase the church’s effectiveness and to help shape the spiritual lives of people through discipleship.
- Participates in other aspects of church life as an active FCCB member.
- Self-motivated, self-disciplined, highly motivated and teachable.
- Is a team player and committed to unity in the workplace.
- Must pass a FL state criminal record check, FBI criminal record check and child abuse history clearances.
· Must be open to additional training and the skill development necessary to maintain excellence in this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In accord with the vision and mission of First Christian Church of the Beaches, the Director of Worship and Music will:
· Oversee all regular worship services and work creatively alongside other ministries in relation to events, to create and provide worship opportunities.
· Develop the congregation’s passion for worship, both in the corporate setting and in individual or family settings.
· Supervise other paid and volunteer musicians and worship-related staff and groups, maintaining responsibility for the focus and quality of all worship experiences.
· Coordinate and lead the Worship Planning Team, collaborating with the Lead Pastor and other team members to discuss and creatively plan yearly worship themes and service elements.
· Recruit, develop, empower and care for musicians and other volunteers in the area of worship.
· Use Planning Center for the contemporary service to plan worship and share music with musicians
· Develop and maintain relationships with local music and worship resources.
Salary/Benefits
Salary will be commensurate with experience. The current range is $20,000-$24,000. Benefits include PTO and professional expense allowances. The compensation package is evaluated on an annual basis.

Job Details
First Christian Church of the Beaches is a non-denominational church located in Neptune Beach, FL. We are currently looking to hire a Director of Student Ministry to lead grades K-12 in our church, as well as picking up and continuing already established relationships in the community through local schools, FCA, Young Life, etc.
The main responsibilities of the Director of Student Ministry are to lead the Student Ministry grades 6-12 on Sunday nights during youth group times at the Beach Barn (student ministry facility located directly next to the church and a 30 second walk to the beach). In addition to this main responsibility, the director would also oversee a part-time Children’s Ministry director to help lead, plan, and develop ministry related to Kid’s ministry grades K-5.
CHURCH SERVICES/OVERVIEW:
First Christian Church of the Beaches is located directly on the Beach.
The Beach Lawn, Church building, and Beach Barn (3-story student ministry center located next to the church), are all within a 30 second walk to the beach. The church has 3 services on Sunday morning.
8am – Outdoor service on the lawn. Typically, people will walk, bring their dogs, bring their own lawn chairs, stop on their way to the beach, and enjoy worship and message outside at 8am.
9am – Traditional service with a choir, communion, sermon, and hymns.
11am – Contemporary service with worship band, communion, and sermon.
The current youth group (grades 6-12) has about 30 students and meets on Sunday nights 5:30-7. The church and student center (Beach barn) are located 2 blocks away from the local middle school. The church and middle school have a well-established relationship and have huge involvement through FCA at the schools.
SALARY: $50,000 - $60,000 depending on experience
REQUIREMENTS:
- Agree with Church values and mission statement.
- A clear calling and commitment to Student Ministry and families at FCCB.
- Experience building and leading a team of volunteers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to be involved with the community outside of church walls (such as Middle School one block away, FCA, Young Life, Athletics, etc.)
- Exemplifies a creative and problem-solving mind.
- A knowledge and embracing of social media platforms to reach the next generation, as well as exhibiting Godly character in person, as well as through online social media presence.
- Must be self -motivated, takes initiative, have creative skills.
- Ability to work well with others and be a team player.
- FCCB must be the home church while employed.
